Clubhouse Happenings

A new week at Friends Corner is about to begin and we’ll be giving thanks and showing our gratitude as we celebrate Thanksgiving.

Activities and crafts will be geared towards a wonderful day of giving thanks.

Besides our ‘Gratitude’ week, I wanted to tell you what we’ve got going on at the Clubhouse lately.

So..

As most of you know, our Morning Programme is guided by different themes that we explore throughout the week.

By painting, sculpting, crafts, games, stories and more, we bring our themes to life and learn through play.

Mondays host our Letter of the Week. The children look at the letter, say the sound and take part in activities and crafts that are associated with whichever Letter of the Week is at play.

But that’s not all..

We begin our Monday mornings with Mummy Yoga at 9:30. Commencing the week with this sound practice really gets the happy hormones going as Teta guides us on our mats.

Tuesdays at 11am welcome Lily and her guitar, as music fills the air and many a happy kid sings away.

Wednesday afternoons find the Clubhouse open again for Evening Club. At 5pm our ever-popular pottery workshop fires up its kiln while, at the same time – in the Blue Room, Active Babies are bouncing around to a special musical programme aimed at tiny minis (!) and toddlers alike.

Thursday mornings find us ‘back to school’ and hosting Mother & Baby Yoga at 10:30 with Alexia followed by Tiffany’s brilliant Movement & Yoga class at 11:30 – that gets everybody in the house happy.

Friday morning (11am) finds them Active Babies jigging away again, and Saturday Coffee Mornings see Ariadne guiding the 3 to 7 year olds into another zen adventure with her Kids Yoga.

Phew!

All that and still there’s more..

Saturday 12 December is the day Friends Corner hosts its Christmas Bazaar and Party. Besides Father Christmas dropping by and leaving a gift or two, there’s so much fun to be had.

Our magical bazaar will offer all kinds of Christmas gifts and festive bits for you to enjoy. The Friends Corner Bake Sale will also be in full swing as it serves up some sweet, savoury and traditional Christmas treats. All washed down with juice and water (for the kids), and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mulled wine (for me! I mean, for all you grown ups..).

So, as you can see, Friends Corner is the place to be! I rhymed!

We’ll miss you, Aristotelis and Jo-anne. Thanks for all the good times and for being part of this journey with us. *hugs*

As for you.. Join us this week as we give thanks for all the memories and friends that we have made, and those we are yet to make. And if you can’t be with us this week, we’ll be waiting for you the next.

Until next time..

So very thankful..

Firework Fun With Friends

So, we strolled into November by fixing the ‘garden gate’ surrounded by grass and pretty little flowers, as we kicked off a fresh week with G as our Letter of the Week.

Music with Lilly, painting, sculpting, singing, dancing, Bike-Whizzing™, and bouncing about like jumping beans helped our week flow nicely.

As we looked forward to Bonfire Night and all its activities, we hosted our first afternoon Active Babies session. It left a bunch of ‘active’ babies and toddlers either more active or totally happily knackered! A resounding success, no less.

Thursday came round and as we sung; Remember, remember the fifth of November, we got together and took a yoga lesson in the ‘Jungle’…

Tiffany managed to get all our kids, plus most mums and nannies, stretching, breathing sweetly and enjoying playing animals – yoga style! Never has a yoga class been more packed!

After our happy zen session we painted firework pictures that were sprinkled with glitter, we made sparklers out of tin foil, and we all had a slice of Bonfire Cake!

A new day dawned and alongside another brilliant yoga session, this time for our tiniest members, we got down to making some paint that actually cackled like fireworks. Paint mixed with popping candy (who knew?) made Bonfire Night come alive once more.

Then it was time to take over the Blue Room again with those Active Babies, although this time our babies and toddlers were joined by some of the older children who had as much, if not more, fun than their younger peers.

Ribbons, sparkly pom-poms, bubbles, metallic gold sheets, puppets, balls, and so many more bursts of technicolour exploded all around us, as songs were sung, jumping was jumped and smiles were smiled. Happy memories made.

And, once that was over, we had just about enough energy to make some whizzing rockets – with added trails of streamers – to really show that we mean Bonfire Night business.

With a new week on its way, there’s more to come.

We’ll be hosting H as our Letter of the Week, we’ll be taking another look at Animals in their various kingdoms as we focus on Birds, Reptiles and Fish. And, best of all, we’ll be having more fun with all our friends.

So, as another week of happy Autumn mayhem awaits, we invite you all to come on over and check it out.

Until next time..

Don’t forget to play.

Strolling Into November

Oops! It’s been a while and now we find ourselves in November already.

Wow! October seems to have flown by, but it was a good’un. So, thank you, Month 10.

Before I tell you what we’ve got in store for our first November week, allow me to give you a little run-down of the last couple of October weeks at Friends Corner.

After much fun with The Senses, we got wild about Animals. We started off with E as our Letter of the Week, and painted an elephant (not a real one, yeah) which takes pride of place in our clubhouse.

We continued our Animals week with animal sounds, animal drawings, play dough animals, animal puppets, animal role-play, and a nice walk to the Pet Shop to see a few furry friends there. Some even dragged Animals week into the weekend and spent the day at the Zoo! (Some kids, that is, not some pet shop animals. Hmmm..)

We welcomed our new friends; the Active Babies team and, alongside our brilliant music class, yoga sessions, classic Bike-Whizzing™, slide-loving, and yard-racing fun, we went straight into another week. And this time it was Halloween Week..

We began with our Monday Letter of the Week, where we were feeling the fun with F.

We cut out some firewood from brown card, and our tiddlers went for a forage in the forest and collected them for the fire they were about to build.

Red, yellow and orange flames were placed on top of our firewood and we warmed up with the best fire in town.

We made some fantastic frogs and painted some fabulous falcons with our friends and we finished a fun Letter of the Week with F.

Lily’s music class and clubhouse fun took us into a new day, which ended with the closing of our doors for a day for the Ochi Day holiday.

But, we were back with Halloween crafts galore as we looked forward to our weekend Halloween party.

And, here’s the part where I thank everyone who dressed up, brought along a dish, and just basically popped in and had fun with us at yet another brilliant Friends Corner Halloween party. Thank you.

Food was consumed, themed cakes and candy provided the sugar rush, costumes were admired, piñatas were hit, and we hope you all had a really good time.

We’ll all be back together very soon as Christmas shows its pretty face, and we meet up at the Friends Corner Christmas Bazaar and Party. More on that soon.

As for this new month and what its first week has in store at the Clubhouse, we’ll be getting into the groove with our Letter of the Week – G, and we’ll be singing: “Remember, remember the fifth of November”, as Bonfire Night becomes our theme.

We’ll also be singing along with Lilly, Yoga-ing with our trinity of yogis; Alexia, Ariadne and Tiffany, pottering in our Pottery class, and we’ll be catching up with them Active Babies.

Join us and let’s all get November happy.

Until next time..

There’s a fire in this November sky.
